Poetry Reflection

I learned that poetry helps you be more relaxed and also makes you think more about everything. I thought about normal things you just do during the day and also things that you see that you usually wouldn't think about, and that's how I got most of the ideas for my poems. I got the idea for Autumn, a poem I wrote, because I've had a long grudge against fall and writing a poem about it makes me feel better. I think I mostly relied on my writing about the object or thought to make my poems good but sometimes I used repetition like in all things have good. I think my poems were good and expressed my feelings or opinions about certain things. I also think I wrote my poems so that I could just write down my opinions and thoughts about normal things that we as people do. It made me think more and I liked that so because of this unit I will probably write more poems in the future.

Play script

Scene 1
(Newton sits in Physics class working teacher walks over to him.)
Narrator: In the year of 1665 Isaac Newton attended trinity college in cambridge england Teacher: Isaac You are the best student of this class
Isaac: Thank you, this is my favorite class and I think that I will pursue universal physics as my career.
(Isaac talks to classmate)
Classmate: Do you ever wonder what's out there, you know, in space
Isaac: Sometimes, but the bigger question is how it all works.
(person 1)
1: I need to talk to you in the hall for a minute.
Teacher:
(walks back in) We are having a school wide dismissal because the plague has been detected in our town.
(Students start packing up)
(Isaac falls to knees and begins crying)
Drama scene: Isaac you need to get out of here, you need to go home
Isaac: this is my home
Teacher: but isaac you'll die
Isaac: If i leave here i'll be as good as dead
(teacher drags isaac out of class)

Scene 2: Apple Scene
1666
Narrator: In 1666 Isaac Newton continued his studies on physics at his house in Woolsthorpe. (in “home”)
(tossing globe)
Isaac: This is perplexing, why do these equations not add up. It makes no sense (mumble) i cannot think in here
(epic boss walking scene)
(newton walks outside with clip board)
(starts writing on paper under tree)
(dropping apple)

Isaac:thats it!!!!!!!!!!! If forces cause acceleration. there must be a force that makes objects accelerate toward the earth
Narrator: But newton didn't stop there, he wanted to create a universal law

Scene 3: Telling people about gravity
Narrator: In 1672 isaac newton gave lectures and educated people on this newly discovered
force
Isaac: through my research I have discovered that all objects with mass exert a pull on all other objects with mass. That means that there must be a force between all objects.
Person 1: How did you arrive at this conclusion?
Newton: *Drops something* Why does that fall? There must be a force that pulls it down. I have come up with an equation to explaining this phenomenon fg= G m1 m2

d squared
(writes on white board in green marker)
isaac: D is the distance between the two objects, g is the gravitational constant, and m sub 1 and m sub 2 are the mass of the 2 objects.

Narrator: Isaac Newton died a well known man and his discoveries will always be remembered.

Poems

Autumn
Sam Ryan

Poems about autumn
Are all about leaves
Or change
Or people
Or trees
Nothing interesting
Happens in fall
No fun
No games
No having a ball
You don't remember
What happens before winter
No swings
No rides
Not even bad splinters
It just turns out to be
That fall
Is the worst season of all
All other seasons have their fun
Summer is play
Winter is snow
And spring is new growth
But fall is dull
As a gray rock
It's like the night of the year
The rain in the weather
The loss amidst the wins
Autumn amounts to nothing
And never will.

Accomplishments
Sam Ryan

It's sad
That the best
Creations
Destroy themselves.
Our cities
Produce smog
Which covers
Their beauty up.
Giant empires
Get taken down
By the very people
Who live in them.
We humans
Are created
But we wear ourselves out
And die.
So much
Has been accomplished
And will soon
Be destroyed.
So enjoy it
While it last
Because its life
May not be long.

There is also 2 more poems at http://www.moontowncafe.com/ that I have submitted to the website poem contest. (The two contest poems are happier than these 2)

Africa Blog post

Geographic challenges and resources have shaped Africa history a lot because Africa has lots of unique resources and geographic elements. African culture is affected by its resources because in Africa there is many different minerals such as diamonds, uranium, gold, and cobalt. Foreigners came to Africa to mine the minerals and make money and therefore Africa made no money off of its resources. Geography has shaped African history also because 80% of Africa is within the tropical zone which greatly affects its climate. The climate affects the vegetation and because of that Africa is a big exporter of crops changing culture and bringing money into Africa. 1/5 of Africa is forests so Africans can export lots of wood and get money but because of this deforestation is a problem. The steady food source in Africa caused populations to grow and prosper. In the great Rift Valley there is good soil and better farming. All good things in Africa improved strong culture and all bad things strengthened culture.

Africa has a lot of problems mostly because of the slave trade. During the slave trade people were taken from Africa and made to work for people in foreign countries. The strongest African people were picked to be slaves and that left the African community weak but they still survived. The slave trade led t Africans turning on one another which led to distrusting countries and war. Africans were given access to guns in exchange for slaves and because Africans had guns it made the wars worse. War with the foreign countries broke because the foreign countries were taking the African people against their will. Usually the foreign countries were stronger than the Africans and that wasn't good for Africa because int he wars they were defeated. Small civilizations in Africa disappeared because of foreigners moving in. African culture changed a lot. Money was introduced and the trade system died out. Cities were more common because of foreigners style. Africans needed money so they grew cash crops which weren't good because they weren't a good diet and people only grew them because they could sell them. The African culture changed a lot because of foreigner influence but still had its individuality.

Africa has impacted many countries in the world for lots of reasons. One way is the slave trade, Africa traded slaves with the us and other countries and made the world think less of Africa. Minerals from Africa made foreign countries more wealthy because foreign countries owned mineral companies in Africa. People from Europe moved to Africa and created cities. Africa's culture has impacted many countries that involved in the slave trade because wherever the Africans went they brought their culture with them. Even though African slaves were bad they helped productivity on foreign countries. In America slaves helped build and improve the country even though they were mistreated. Africans didn't impact the world as much as other countries but
